Visitors will see that an area of North Down and also one of the sheep paddocks (Colin’s Paddock) have been cut for hay. Once dry the hay will be baled and removed. Meadows are grazed or cut on rotation to prevent the smothering of wild flowers by vigorous grasses and scrub. Mammals, invertebrates and small birds, including skylarks, shelter and feed through the winter in the remaining long grass areas.
