We have received an update from the contractors, Kier, who have told us that access to Magog Down from the A1307 will be reinstated at some point during the afternoon of Wednesday 18 October. The contractors have not been able to say precisely when. However, access will definitely be in place from Thursday (19 October). However, it will no longer be possible to get to Magog Down by car from Stapleford itself via Haverhill Road as this will be closed off.
The simplest way to the A1307 from Haverhill Road in Stapleford is to turn left by the recreation ground on to Gog Magog Way. Follow Gog Magog Way. keeping right at the junction with Bar Lane, and bear right on to Mingle Lane by the church. At the top of Mingle Lane, turn right and follow Hinton Way down to the roundabout with the A1307. Turn right towards Haverhill and take first right into Haverhill Road to get to the Magog Down car park. Please be aware that the A1307 going into Cambridge is very busy in a morning (0730 to 0930) so care is needed when turning right across the flow of traffic.
We will continue to provide updates on access as we are made aware of them while the work to install a new electricity cable continues.
