Annual Reviews

Each year we now produce an 'Annual Review' for Friends and Members, which incorporates a summary of our formal Year-end Report, plus what we hope are some interesting highlights of the year in question.

The previous few Annual Reviews can be downloaded here:

Statement about Friend subscriptions and car park closure

The car park is closed as a result of restrictions imposed by the Government, with the long term aim of saving lives. It is uncertain how long these sanctions will last but it is likely to be a matter of months rather than weeks.

During that time, a number of Friend subscriptions will come to the end of their current term and if that applies to you, the Trustees would encourage you to renew.  Apart from the benefit of free parking, your subscription contributes to the maintenance and upkeep of Magog Down for conservation and informal recreation. This work needs to continue so that The Down will be in a position to fully re-open once current restrictions are lifted.  The costs involved are considerable.

A small number of Friends have asked about the possibility of some adjustment to subscriptions to reflect the closure of the car park. The Trustees are minded not to make any changes but will consider the position once the restrictions are lifted. It should be noted that any adjustment would place a significant administrative cost burden on the charity. Furthermore, Friends are reminded that the subscription is a very modest annual charge. The standard rate of  £15 pa equates to a tiny 29 pence per week.

If the car park closure imposes a financial burden on a Friend, then they should approach the Trustees on an individual basis, explaining the reasons.

We know that Friends of Magog Down will support the action of the Trustees and abide by the closure.

Old Newsletters

Up until 2011 we produced a twice-yearly Newsletter, and you can still download copies of some of these here:

Spring 2010

Autumn/Winter 2009

Spring 2009

In 2011 the re-designed website was launched, and so the decision was taken to stop producing these Newsletters, and instead to use this website as the main means of communication for news and articles of interest.

This move away from a regular Newsletter meant that more of the Members' and Friends' subscriptions could be spent directly on the costs of upkeep and husbandry on the Down.

We would love every regular visitor to Magog Down to help support its upkeep by becoming a Friend. Read more on our Join Us page, and then complete the application form.
